Planning is underway for the state's largest literary celebration! The fifth annual Southern Kentucky Festival of Books is set for April 11 - 12, 2003 at the Sloan Convention Center. Bart Darrell and Walter Baker, both members of the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education, will serve as the Honorary Co-Chairs.

The two day festival begins with Children's Day on Friday the 11th. Busloads of students are expected to descend upon the Convention Center once again. Over 50 children's authors are expected to attend. Already confirmed for the 2003 festival is the award-winning author/illustrator, Avi. A thrilling day full of fun is in the works including dramatic and musical performances and other interactive activities.

Returning to the book festival will be the Film/Video Competition sponsored by Cory Lash and WKU's School of Journalism and Broadcasting featuring celebrity speakers from the film making industry.
