A River Away
Valentine Thomas Dalton accompanied George Rogers Clark on an expedition
that historians argue was the most extraordinary feat of the Revolutionary
War. Unfortunately, Dalton family research also suggests that Valentine
participated in Clark’s two private and little known military
actions that were thought to be treasonable missions against America.
Corroborated by vintage photographs, copies of letters, court records
and other documents, this book implies that Captain Dalton infiltrated
the Spanish high command as a spy under General Clark. This book
tells the story of Captain Dalton who intimately knew the historical
figures portrayed in this novel of love, revenge and survival.
Marilyn Dungan, author of the Laney McVey series, has paused in
her series to pursue a mystery of her own – the identity of
four subjects in vintage photographs found in her father’s
papers. This book is the result of five years of research. She lives
in the Bluegrass Area of Kentucky.
